Boyds Blinds in Nottingham & Newark

Boyd’s Blinds Ltd began trading in 2010, although our work in the blinds industry stretches back much further. We are a family run business consisting of father (Tony) and son (Colin).

Tony originally started working in the blind industry in 1978. With 40 years’ experience behind him, he decided the time was right to start up a business for himself. Starting as a supplier to the trade, he soon became too busy and at this point, Colin came on board.

Colin had trained as a blind fitter with Bradrail Blinds in Bulwell, Nottingham. From here he travelled around selling and fitting blinds. He soon became restless in an office role. So he made the natural transition towards starting up the retail section of Boyd’s Blinds Ltd.

We started simply by getting flyers printed and walking the streets posting them through each home in Southwell. The demand that then followed showed us that not only the service we offered but also the wide range we had available was greatly needed. We set up a Facebook page and expanded the area that we advertised within.

2014 saw us take on a market stall on Wednesday’s at Newark Market square, which was soon joined by a Tuesday spot at Bulwell Market. The business is growing daily, which has led us to taking on our first employee as a blind fitter.

We are proud of how our business is continuing to grow, and are happy to serve customers throughout Nottingham, Newark and the wider Nottinghamshire area.
